Joan Bress, founder of College Resource Associates, draws on more than twenty years experience as an educator, licensed independent clinical social worker, and parent to guide students toward the best possible educational opportunities. Joan encourages students to take responsibility for organizing their college search and offers structure to help them stay on track. As students make decisions about colleges and complete applications, Joan helps them gain an appreciation for the personal qualities they bring to college and for what they want to achieve. Joan holds degrees from University of Pennsylvania, Simmons College School of Social Work, and Boston University. She has served on the faculties of Boston University, Becker College, Northeastern University and Notre Dame Academy of Worcester. A specialist in adolescent development and family therapy, Joan is a frequent contributor to national magazines. She regularly presents workshops and seminars for students, parents, and teachers on preparing for college and teaches online College Counseling courses for University of California Los Angeles. A Certified Educational Planner (CEP), Joan is a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA).
