Community Guidelines

The College Planning Network (TCPN) is an open network for educational consultants; academic advisors, counselors, and other college planning professionals, seeking to serve college bound students and their families. The site allows and encourages people to advise, counsel, collaborate, exchange valuable insights, and learn about the college planning process.

We'd like to make sure your experience on TCPN is a pleasant and rewarding one. Please consider the following basic rules below when participating on our website:

Be Yourself. All information you provide in your registration with The College Planning Network (TCPN) relates to yourself only and is accurate, complete and not in any respect misleading. You accurately describe your background, skills, knowledge and your level of experience (including professional licenses, certifications, education, employment, etc). You do not misrepresent yourself or create a misleading user profile.

Stay Current. You will maintain and update your profile information within twenty-four (24) hours of any changes so that it remains true, accurate and complete. In addition, if any change to this information alters the status of any of your credentials that have been verified for purposes of being an Expert on the Site (e.g. active license becomes inactive or suspended; disciplinary investigation is opened, etc.), you will notify TCPN of such change by sending an email to experts@thecollegeplanningnetwork.com within twenty-four (24) hours of the change.

Make it Relevant. You will provide competent consultations that are within your realm of expertise and any applicable credentials only. Please do not create misleading descriptions, tags, title content, or thumbnails in order to increase views. It's not okay to post large amounts of untargeted, unwanted or repetitive content, including comments and private messages. TCPN may elect at its sole discretion to monitor some or all areas of the website(s).

Be Respectful. You will not do anything to manipulate, undermine, or disrupt the integrity of any Customer, Expert or other feedback ratings, reports or systems on the Site, including but not limited to filing false reports about other Experts or communicating with other Experts about a plan of filing reports or making complaints about other Experts. You will not harass or threaten any other User of the Site.

Honor Privacy. TCPN deals with personal and sensitive information. Please respect the private and personal information of those who use our website. Don't post information like full names, telephone numbers, email or addresses. You will abide by all the laws, rules, regulations, and ethical standards pertaining to your profession and/or the profession applicable to categories in which you are an Expert.

You accept and agree to the Terms of Service Please take these rules seriously, understand them and try to respect the spirit in which they were created. Violations of the Guidelines and/or Terms of Service may result in a warning notification or termination of your account. If your account is terminated you are prohibited from creating any new accounts.

Prove It or Lose It Policy

Attention Experts! Be truthful about your credentials, education and background. We have contracted with a third party verification company that can confirm information you've provided. If you are asked to prove that your credentials are valid and you refuse, your account will be terminated.
