Below are common questions asked by parents and non-expert users of TCPN.

  • How much does it cost to use TCPN?
    The College Planning Network is FREE to use for anyone looking for a college planning expert. If you are an education expert that wants to offer services, please visit our Sign Up and Pricing page to learn more.
  • How do I know if an expert is qualified to meet my needs?
    We encourage all users to review the expert profiles on the network and to ask experts questions before agreeing to perform any work. We have made this easier for you by providing experts the opportunity to have their credentials verified. Expert profiles that have been TCPN verified will be marked with a green 'verified expert' badge to help you identify them easier.
  • Can I use more than one expert at the same time?
    Sure! The college planning process involves a lot of details and we encourage you to work with multiple experts to ensure all of your needs are met. Just remember that most experts will charge for their time and/or services and you are financially responsible to pay any experts you use.
  • How do I cancel work with an expert?
    We encourage both you and the expert to communicate your expectations early and often. If for any reason you want to stop working with an expert before they have completed their agreement with you, please contact the expert directly and tell them you are no longer interested in their services. Depending on the experts policy and amount of work completed, the expert may charge you for work performed, and you are financially responsibly to pay.
  • How do I pay experts?
    If an expert sends you an invoice from the TCPN invoice system, these can be paid with PayPal using a PayPal account or credit card. Although this is the easiest way to pay for services on The College Planning Network, experts are not required to use PayPal for payments. Invoices not sent from TCPN should state payment terms and method of payment accepted. If these are not clear, please contact your expert to find out what they are.
  • How do I contact experts?
    To contact an expert for the first time you should send a message from the experts profile page (click the 'send message' button). Once an expert replies to your message, you will receive a new message in your TCPN Inbox. You can continue to exchange messages with experts on the network (preferred), or contact the expert directly if they provide their information to you.
  • How do I rate and leave feedback for an expert?
    After you have paid an expert for their services, you will receive an E-mail with instructions and a link to rate the expert. This allows you to share your experience with other members on the site and helps others decide which experts to use.
  • How can I leave feedback on this website?
    We love to hear what you think! You can click the 'GIVE US FEEDBACK' button at the bottom of the page or use the Contact Us form to send us a message.

PROVIDING SERVICES

Below are common questions asked by expert and professional users of TCPN.

  • What are your pricing plans?
    We currently offer 3 plans for education experts to join The College Planning Network; Including a free 90-day trial to help you get started. Learn more on our Sign Up and Pricing page.
  • How do I become TCPN Verified?
    We encourage all education experts that are serious about their business-and want to give their clients more peace of mind when selecting an expert-to have their profile credentials verified. After you create a Basic or Pro account, you will have the option to verify your account.
  • How often can I update my profile?
    You are allowed to update your profile as often as you want, unless your account credentials have already been verified. Once your profile has been verified, items marked with a "verified" badge can not be updated.
  • What happens after my 90-day trial expires?
    After 90 days you will have the option to upgrade your account to Basic or Pro. If you choose not to continue using TCPN, you will no longer have access to your account and your profile will be removed from the network.
  • How do I become a featured expert on the TCPN website?
    You must have a "Pro" membership to become a featured expert. All "Pro" account members will be rotated and displayed on the TCPN homepage and other areas of the site-as determined by TCPN-for promotional purposes.
  • Can I contact customers outside of TCPN?
    We encourage experts to communicate on the network as much as possible to maintain the credibility built by your association with The College Planning Network. We understand that consultations may require phone calls and file sharing that can not be supported by the network at this time, but we advise invoicing and payments be handled by the network for security and expert rating/feedback purposes.
  • Can I moderate negative customer feedback?
    We currently do not have a self-moderation feature for customer rating and feedback. If you receive a negative rating or feedback that you believe was not given fairly, please send an email to admin@theCollegePlanningNetwork.com with your name and reason for moderation. Our team will review your case and send you a decision promptly.
  • What if a customer does not pay an invoice?
    If you sent a customer an invoice and have not received any response or payment within your specified invoice terms, we suggest you send a formal request via E-mail or first class mail requesting payment immediately. The College Planning Network does not provide a collections service at this time so we ask that all experts use their best judgement when working with clients and clearly communicate your terms and costs before beginning any work.
  • How do I add an image to my profile?
    Use your Facebook profile photo:

    1. Log in to your Facebook account
    2. Click 'Edit My Profile' in the upper-left corner of the page.
    3. Click 'Profile Picture' from the left column.
    4. Right-click on the thumbnail photo and select 'Copy Image Address'.
    5. Log in to your TCPN account and click the 'Edit My Profile' tab, paste (control+v) the image URL into the field under your profile photo and click 'Save'.

    Use your LinkedIn profile photo:

    1. Log in to your LinkedIn account.
    2. Click 'Profile' and select 'Edit Profile'.
    3. Click 'Edit' under your profile thumbnail.
    4. Click 'Edit Photo' under 'Current Photo'.
    5. Right-click the small image in the top-left corner and select 'Copy Image Address'.
    6. Log in to your TCPN account and click the 'Edit My Profile' tab, paste (control+v) the image URL into the field under your profile photo and click 'Save'.

    Use a photo from your personal website (advanced users):

    1. Create a profile image with the dimensions 203x152 pixels, save as '.jpg', '.gif' or '.png'.
    2. Upload the image to your website (using FTP or your hosting C-Panel)
    3. Copy the image URL for your image; Be sure to include the full domain name first (Example: http://www.website.com/image.jpg)
    4. Log in to your TCPN account and click the 'Edit My Profile' tab, paste (control+v) the image URL into the field under your profile photo and click 'Save'.
